Hello Friends,

We had the first session for the new record yesterday and I had the most fun I’ve had in ages. A steller group of musicians: Josh Grange, Ian Walker and Dave Allen, played just what I asked for, “spacious and tasty” which morphed into “spacey and tasty.” There was a great vibe and we rocked so well on the first tune that we had time to begin another before Josh and Ian take off for Australia to play with k.d. lang. My dear friend, the gifted singer Dominique Plaisant, and I are back in today for a few layers of gorgeous background vocals. More later as it develops... Meanwhile, thanks for your encouragement to keep going..it really helps!

bravo!

I am so glad to hear that Dominique Plaisant will be performing soprano duties in Phillip Glass’ Book of Longing, a new work for four voices based on the poetry of Leonard Cohen. Not only is Dominique a phenomenal singer with a four octave range, she’s also a very dear friend from the old days in NYC.

Lian Lunson (documenatary I'm Your Man) lends her extraordinary talents to this documentary about the making of the album Blue Alert. Take a sneak peek at the video at Leonard Cohen's Sony site (click on "Anjani") or view it directly from the links below:

blue alert covered

Blue Alert inspires others! Half The Perfect World is Madeleine Peyroux’s latest album set for release September 12. Madeleine Peyroux recorded a well-received version of "Dance Me To The End Of Love" on her wonderful debut album. Now, in her new album, she covers "Half The Perfect World" and "Blue Alert." (She also recorded "Crazy To Love You," for Japan release only).

Click on any topic at DrHGuy’s site and you’ll discover the most elucidating, cogent, funny-as-all-hell (not to mention tasteful) blog I’ve come across. As you’ll see, the charmer a/k/a Allan Showalter, has a way with words but not with me!

And don't miss DrHGuy's interview series with Anjani -- The Anjani Chronicles.
